Introduction
This document outlines the membership policy for The Private Markets Forum, ensuring a fair, transparent, and objective selection process.
Membership Criteria
Membership in The Private Markets Forum is based on the following criteria:
- Professional experience in private markets and broader capital markets within the UK and abroad.
- Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in relevant sectors.
- Contribution to the private markets community.
- Alignment with the forum’s objectives and values.
- Preference is given to applicants representing specific industry stakeholder segments, including lawyers, market operators, service providers, buy-side, sell-side, VC/PE, and private companies.
- These criteria are to be reviewed on a quarterly basis to ensure inclusion of other segments, if required.
Selection Process
- Applications are reviewed by the Board.
- Evaluation is based on the stated criteria and recorded for transparency.
- Decisions are made objectively and without discrimination.
- Applicants are notified of the decision with a rationale provided upon request.

The Private Markets Forum is committed to an inclusive environment. Membership selection is made without regard to race, colour, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, disability, or any other protected characteristic.
Board Membership
Board Selection Criteria
Board (Steering Committee) membership is based on:
- Active participation in the forum.
- Leadership experience and skills.
- Commitment to advancing the forum’s goals.
- Representation of diverse perspectives within the private markets, represented by the specific industry stakeholder segments, namely: lawyers, market operators, service providers, buy-side, sell-side, VC/PE, and private companies.
Board Selection Process
- Initial Board members have been selected on a voluntary basis.
- Further board member nominations will be accepted and solicited from the forum members on a regular schedule, as agreed and documented within the Terms of Reference.
- Selection is conducted objectively and transparently.
- Board members are appointed for a defined term, to be agreed.
Non-Discrimination Policy for Board
The selection of Board members adheres to the same non-discrimination policy as general membership.
